I was not able to get any AM stations to come in anywhere. I purchased this item to listen to the game on AM while at the gym. Other negative points are that you have to scan through all 10 preset to find the one you want, the volume is a little loud on the lowest setting, and the arm band is a little goofy at first to figure out. The FM side seemed to work great, but that is not what I bought it for. I was not able to get the local station to come in at the gym or at home. I tried while camping as well.
If you're jogging or bicycling, it takes away from the fun. There is a button for the band, and you can just switch between the same two AM and FM channels, but if you listen to more than two, it takes an effort. In other words, if you're on channel 2, and want to get to channel 1, you have to go from 3 through 10, and then to one.
It's as if someone just slapped this together without any fore thought. My main problem is with the controls. There are a number of problems with this radio.
In order to change channels, you have to cycle through the whole 10 presets in order. The sound isn't too bad, but nothing to write home about. For instance, the arm band has all the velcro on the same side.
This means that when you wrap it around your arm, you have to twist it, or you end up with velcro on a smooth surface.
Both AM and FM work fine in the suburbs, as well as at the Metrodome--so I believe the only interference downtown is the tall buildings.Overall, a very good product. The AM tuner has problems in a downtown/skyscraper environment (Minneapolis). This am/fm tuner is perfect for the price (I bought mine online at a site other than Amazon.com--keep looking, there's a deal out there).All I'll say was that my total bill (s&h included) was less than $10.As for the product: It comes with headphones but no battery's, so make sure to have some AAA's handy when this thing comes. The headphones are good quality (ear bud style).The FM tuner is very clear in the city.
It was not worth the box it arrived in. I was looking for a less expensive radio to pick up AM channels for sporting events and what I ended up with is a very poor product. First the ear buds stopped working, then the whole radio stopped working.
Not recommended. We bought this for our GYM time but this has got a really bad reception and sound qaulity.
